To Whom It May Concern:

As the Assistant Director and Graduate Advisor of the Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane University, I certify that the following students are currently enrolled as graduate students in good standing with Tulane University and are Fellowship recipients:

Each student on Fellowship also receives a stipend normally disbursed over an eight month academic year cycle which begins in late August and ends in late April. The stipend amount is $14,500. It is disbursed directly to the student and is intended to be used towards his/her subsistence and living expenses.

In spite of the disruption caused by Hurricane Katrina, and the relocation of many of our students to other Universities and Colleges throughout the United States, Tulane University will continue to make stipend payments to Graduate Students on Fellowship if such students are continuing with their studies elsewhere.

The Stone Center also has a small number of graduate students who are not on Fellowship, but who maintain full-time enrollment status in the program. These students are:
James Cordova
Maria Gaztambide
Dan Hilliard
Stephen Jacobs
Maureen Long
Margarita Vargas-Betancourt
Should you have any questions about the nature of our Graduate Fellowship Program or should you require a reference for any of the above-mentioned students, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached by email at: rtsclasblog@hotmail.com or by phone at 504-390-1680.

On behalf of the Stone Center for Latin American Studies and Tulane University, I would like to offer you my sincerest thanks for your support of our students during such an unsettling time.

Sincerely,

James D. Huck, Jr., Ph.D.
